Size chart and fit

MANZI sizes follow height and weight. One chart for adult sheers and opaques, one for plus sizes, one for girls by age, and a rule for each bench about which way to round.

Adult sizes

The pack prints a height range and a weight range for each size. Find the row where both fit. If height and weight land in different rows, the row for the weight wins, because a pair stretched to reach is a pair that runs.

The doubled sizes, S/M and L/XL, are one knit cut to cover two rows. They exist on the packs of six and on the dance bench. If you sit at the top of M, the L/XL pair fits better than the S/M.

Plus sizes

Plus-size pairs are a different knit with a wider brief, a longer leg and, on knee highs, a wider calf band. They run 2XL to 5XL, and the packs print the same height-and-weight rows. A plus-size pair is not an XL cut bigger. The proportions are different, and an XL person in a 3XL pair will find the brief sitting under the ribs.

Girls, by age

Girls' tights are sized 4 to 6, 7 to 10 and 11 to 14 years, and each band prints a height range. Height wins over age: a tall nine-year-old wears the 11 to 14. The waistband on a girls' pair is wider and sits lower than an adult one.

Which way to round, bench by bench

  • Sheers: up. A sheer stretched too far turns lighter and runs sooner.
  • Opaques: either way. Microfiber forgives a boundary.
  • Dance tights: down. They are meant to fit close, and the microfiber gives more than a sheer.
  • Fleece-lined: up. The lining stretches less than the shell. A short leg pulls at the toe all day.
  • Thigh highs: up. A band stretched to its limit rolls, and a rolled band does not hold.
  • Knee highs: one size. The wide-calf version for calves over 16 inches.

Every product page prints the size on that page and links the other sizes knitted in the same shade, each with its own price.
